A scorpion wants to cross a river but cannot swim, so it asks a frog to carry it across. The frog hesitates, afraid that the scorpion might sting it, but the scorpion promises not to, pointing out that it would drown if it killed the frog in the middle of the river. The frog considers this argument sensible and agrees to transport the scorpion. Midway across the river, the scorpion stings the frog anyway, dooming them both. The dying frog asks the scorpion why it stung despite knowing the consequence, to which the scorpion replies: "I am sorry, but I couldn't help myself. It's my character."
Congrats on quoting Crying Game
Omg that’s more than half the recruiters I’ve worked with. And when you call them on it, they turn it around on you saying you’re too sensitive and impatient.
I guess they don't want an employee who wants to meet deadlines and cares about their job.
We are impatient because we want to see results. We are sensitive because we care.
Boy, that's the big question, isn't it? I honestly wonder about all the ghosting these days. I think it's partly that we've normalized really rude behavior in business. And I wonder if it's something in how recruiters' jobs are structured. I wonder if they have a quota to hit, so they contact lots of people, but then just never follow through with most of them.
Sometimes the decisionmakers haven’t made a decision, so the recruiter has nothing to tell you and doesn’t want to take time telling you they still don’t have anything to say. Recruiters are also not typically type A go-getters and may just not be great at their jobs. If you have already interviewed, reach out to the senior interviewer with a thank you and inquiry if you really think you did well and should be getting a response. If they want you, that person will make sure something happens. If not, you have your answer.
Not a recruiter, but as a candidate I’ve been ghosted because of recruiter layoff. I also think the recruiters that possibly ghost don’t have the best ATS’s to keep track of everything
Can confirm I was a victim of this..
