What’s the motivation? Hopefully for the social and intellectual aspects because financially it’s a money loser in my experience
Motivation is social, stay current on new trends/tech, and to have fun. I recognize it’s most likely not a money maker.
Here’s a list of top 9 angel investor groups in NYC according to Google:

Or if you’re open to joining more global angel investor networks there’s

There’s a few different business models and minimum spend required for investments, so worth shopping around to see which model suits you best.
Some require a lot of active input, including sourcing and reviewing startups; others are more like a VC fund model where you put your money in a general fund and you vote as a bloc on which startups to invest the fund in.
I’ve also just joined a global angel investor network and it’s lots of fun learning about new industries and innovations as well as meeting other angel investors. But agree with McK1 that it’s not a money maker - more of an expensive hobby to indulge in. But if you budget for it and have a clear investment philosophy plan so that you don’t get distracted and over-extend yourself, it’s fine.
Good luck!
Angel investing has been fun but it’s more a money loser than maker mostly. I think of it as a substitute for a taste in expensive watches.
I’m thinking of all the money I’ve saved by never owning a boat ….
