Should employees have access to social media during work hours? Some argue it enhances creativity and connection, while others believe it distracts from productivity. What’s your take—should social media be allowed, or does it lead to more problems than it's worth?

I’m curious how this could be enforced. Having social media blocked on computers is one thing, but taking away someone’s phone at work seems harsh.

I think it also depends on the scenario: are they just scrolling and not working, or is it a check in once in awhile?

Also if they’re in marketing, will never work.

I think a small check in should be allowed. Some places don't allow phones on desks but my office had become a lot more relaxed in recent years.

I don’t due to working in a highly regulated industry and compliance rules do not allow it. It’s fine. I have my iPhone for that.

I bet a lot people aren't allowed. I'd then just want to binge it at night when I go home.

I think it depends on the job. For creative roles, a quick scroll can spark ideas or give a mental reset. But if it turns into full-blown scrolling sessions, then it becomes a problem

What social media would be allowed? I guess LinkedIn and x are both social media and they are both terrible lol

Haha yea agreed. I couldn't be trusted on tiktok cos that's an hour gone just sat scrolling. It's addictive haha.

Enhances creativity creativity? That sounds insane. No employees do not need to be on their social media or using their personal devices while on the clock. If they want to do it on the brakes that’s fine. But no, they should not be scrolling TikTok or Instagram during the workday

As long as they don't "camp out" there all day, I don't see an issue.

Its very much dependant on the type of office environment. Some places are quite laid back, get the work done and there's no issue.

I’m only a year or two into practice and am wondering if there are any tips to best position myself for this type of position? I don’t anticipate making any moves that way for at least 5 more years. No clerking experience or law review, so that’s -2 points for me
