Depending on your net worth and your income, and your family background (or where you feel you "fit in")
New Rich-Southlake
Old Rich - Highland Park and University Park, Preston Hollow, certain parts of old East Dallas
Upper Middle Class-Frisco, Plano, Grapevine, Coppell, Rockwall/Heath,HEB, Allen
Middle & Lower Class- North Arlington, South Mansfield, Midlothian, anywhere about 45-60 minutes away from downtown on a Sunday at 8am other than Frisco (so like 60-120 minutes to downtown on a weekday in rush hour)
If you look up the best school districts in DFW you'll find where the wealthiest people live.
Arlington is not what it once was…
The further north you go the better long term imo but the commute will be rough if you drive during normal commute hours. The main highways (75, 635, and DNT) will have you feel like you’re playing dodgeball with other cars.
Moved to Frisco/Mckinney area and 10/10 recommend it over Dallas proper if you can afford it.
Lots of variables - I love the park cities/Preston hollow area.
Rising Star
I’m a Dallas transplant and love it 👍
It does help to know if you have kids, if you like bars, if you want to live downtown, where you’re moving from for reference, etc. There are many variables, what are you looking for?
No kids, single, not a big bar guy but would go out occasionally. Not a big outdoorsy guy but definitely looking to change that.
Uptown, Old East Dallas, Addison, depends what vibe you’re looking for.
Adding more information since my post was kind of vague lol.
Single, income level range 70k to 80k. Would like to live close-ish to downtown as to not go mad during traffic hours. Not an outdoorsy guy but I'm looking to change that by going out to parks more.
EY Depends on your lifestyle. I like day drinking and pool parties as much as the next 20-something-year-old but at Skyhouse it’s ridiculous.
My neighbors would blare music most nights at 4am so loud it very literally shook my bed from across the hallway, stank the place up so bad you’d think Snoop Dogg was sitting in the hallways with his buddy Willie Nelson seeing who could smoke more, and the rent for the size of the place you get will have you thinking you must’ve teleported to NYC.
Has a nice pool though.
