Small plaintiff’s firm doing a niche of PI. Looking for a recommended person search/skip tracing database to use on our clients and defendants. Want to get address, social media, contact info, criminal history, etc. doesn’t need to be too deep but reliable and the basics. Any recommendations reasonably priced?

Lexis Nexis. You can pull reports on individuals with a lot of that. DigiStream can also pull social media stuff.

I use RedFolder; you have to “apply” to them and they have to approve you for service, but they’ve been the best one I’ve used to date.

They’ve done skip tracing & crim history for me when I’ve sent them a custom order via the “ask a question” option. I wouldn’t waste a ton of money on social media lookups unless the person has a public page or their close associates have public pages.

I’ve also used C Jackson Investigations for some clients and have had good luck with them:

TransUnion is pretty reasonable too

I would like to hit fire between 40-50. Currently 27, 185k total comp (125 for me and 60 for partner). Like my job don’t hate it don’t love it. Does an MBA make sense? I’m guessing it could take me to 170ish with that schools I’m looking at but wondering if the 40-50 retirement range makes an mba not make sense since I’d only have 10-20 years to save vs 12-22.

Would have to finance the whole thing myself. Current net worth is 140k. Thoughts?

In an auto accident trial, can you inform the jury in any way that the at-fault driver had insurance? I have a hard time believing a jury would award 7-figure damages if they thought the little old lady defendant had to personally pay. I’m just starting to do PI on the side by myself at my firm, so this is probably a very dumb and obvious question.

I currently work at a small PI firm in Atlanta were EVERYTHING is settled presuit. If we’re unable to settle, then it’s referred to another firm for litigation. This whole process seems very atypical to me and the attorneys rarely touch a file until the first liability offer is received. The paralegals handle everything from intake to drafting the demands. The attorney briefly skims (does NOT read) the demand packages and signs. Is this ethical?? Anyone else work at a firm that is run this way??

Hello All,
I am finishing up my second year of practice as a lawyer. I transitioned to plaintiffs pi work from a boutique commercial litigation firm. I like the work and not having to bill. The issue I am having is managing volume. I have about 150 active files some pre-lit and the rest are in litigation. Cases range in value from very small to low six figures. I also take the driver seat for the grunt work on the firms bigger cases which are at or near 7 figure value. I constantly feel (cont.)

For Plaintiff's attorneys, how big is your caseload? What kind of cases are the majority of them and are they in suit? I am currently handling 150+ mostly MVAs and premise liability cases, just about all in suit, (on top of about 10 DUIs and other small traffic matters) and I feel like I'm drowning and looking to jump ship.
