Let’s say, I sell this investment. What will be my basis in the stock? My purchase price? Or purchase price plus the income I have reported over the years? I have an offer to start at a new firm 3rd week of January and am trying to figure out timing on when to give a two week notice. For context I’m in consulting and our current projects are wrapping up by year end/we don’t get a busy season surge. I have two weeks of PTO to end the calendar year scheduled, and am afraid if I say anything before the break they’ll cut me off before my time off. Is giving notice first thing next year the best idea given my constraints?
