What you really should’ve said is: “what’s Berkeley? I haven’t heard of it!”
That is the correct response (Disclaimer: I’m from Stanford)
I have no clue what that is either
I didn’t know what it was until I googled it and it’s apparently a club at Berkeley where they learn the basics of consulting
“You went to Berkeley? How’d you get hired at PWC?"
Lots of top schools have professional clubs where the students do hands-on work. For example a consulting club that works with local companies for cheap or free, with student (juniors, seniors) advisors who may have interned at a consulting firm or professor advisors who were past consultants. Applies to finance too, where students invest real funds from the university. No need to brag about it. But it’s real experience during the school year in addition to any summer internship experience.
Went to berkeley - can confirm Deloitte 2’s response
One of my top work highlights was when at a social event, a colleague kept dropping the name of his top ranked business school, and an associate with a non-business undergrad sweetly asked “I’ve never heard of it - where is that?” It’s hilarious to me when people expect others to be impressed by their credentials, and even more hilarious when those credentials mean nothing to the other party 😂
Least self aware person if all time
heh im a cal alum. The haas kids are in an amazing mbb or bust circle-jerk bubble. I actually envy their separation from reality.
Ask them why they didn't go to Stanford 🙃
You really should have asked him
“So Jim, where’d you go to undergrad??"
Stuff him in a locker
LOL - and those of us that graduated from Oxford just smile and say, "well done, you!"
