I will be having my salary review discussion very soon, and I wanted to get a sense of what I should expect in terms of a raise. I am an associate legal counsel for a tech company in Chicago. I have about 2 years of experience, I am exceeding expectations and my total compensation is about $120k. TIA

What amount do people normally put down for a car? Is it a percentage or flat dollar amount? I’m assuming it makes no sense to pay for the car in cash (the promotion is 1.75% APR).

Hi team, I have officially been promoted to Senior Recruiter, however they only gave me a $5k bump from $72k to 79k. That’s basically below the median standard 10% raise bracket. Being one of the highest performers and trainers, I feel as though maybe I should at least receive $85k at minimum. However, the terms “budget” and “company profits” being beneath forecast are the biggest reasons that I am not receiving a high salary. I understand times can be tough, but any advice to negotiate?

PE investment 🐠, how often do you do CDDs to actually diligence the asset and you would be happy if the report is not fully positive vs. you have already decided to acquire the asset and just need a positive report to convince the IC and lenders?

Do PE companies know that many CDD partners would make their team’s life miserable if the story is not positive because they think investment teams won’t work with them as often if they raise red flags? All T2 firms do it, many MBB partners do it too.

Does anyone else compulsively calculate potential promotion and/or merit raises just to see what their new salary could be? I calculate a worst, mid, and best case scenarios regularly.

I am aware it is a super unhealthy habit of mine and that my estimates are likely way off anyways.

Worried about being branded a job hopper or flaky. First job out of college was a BDR at big tech lasted 16 months, left to take a AM role at a better tech company. Been there 10 months, it’s fine but really uninspiring. My performance is good but I don’t see much of a track for promotion or more money. Mostly just not passionate about the work.

I’m an immigration paralegal but I have an MA in human rights. I’ve been working at my org for 2 1/2 years but I don’t see an upwards growth for me unless I go to law school but that is really expensive and it’ll take a few years. I’ve tried to seek promotion to Senior paralegal but I’ve been told I don’t have enough experience. Im due for a promotion to VP and I’ve been told it’s coming. I am a top performer, it is overdue, and my org has done nothing to adjust for inflation. Since promotions represent the one opportunity to accelerate comp outside of changing jobs is it reasonable to negotiate on the details? In the past it’s always been “you’re lucky to get this” sold as a gift - but IMO they have a lot of ground to make up for and I’m curious how I’d counter a lowball offer. Am I crazy? Anyone ever done this?

I was in a long term relationship, and now getting back together and trying to figure things out. I know time is not on my side. Background on birth control: I was on 2 x Mirena IUDs, Depoprovera, Alesse 21+ 28 (21 - 33). I removed the 2nd IUD at 33. My OBGYN said it is normal for system to recalibrate after 1 yr. I've been interviewing everywhere for six months now - I'll go through round after round - the interviews will go great, and then I'll get ghosted. It's happend ten or twelve times now. Is it possible that I've been blacklisted or something? I thought the job market was supposed to be great right now.
