People who have transitioned from consulting to industry or an objectively less demanding role (i.e working 40-45 hrs a week), what makes you feel good about your decision? After a decade in client services, I’m reaching a breaking point and can’t see consulting being sustainable with a young family. My professional life at the moment is far from ideal. I’ve been on quarantine (long story, but a good one) for the last seven years. Royalties from my books don’t pay the bills. My entrepreneurial pursuits remain hampered. For the interim, I’ve been looking for a remote opportunity where I can leverage my skills in marketing, sales, social media, and elsewhere for a decent sum. I have a social media presence which, in recent years, reached millions. There has to be something exciting I can do.

At a small firm, place went through layoffs a few months ago. Been on the bench for a Month. Just feel I’m waiting for the doom invite to drop into my cal now. Sigh.

My boyfriend is only 6 months older than I am and he is kicking ass at his job. It’s so hard to feel that even though I work 1.5x the hours he does and had to get my CPA and a master’s that he is making way more money/getting more recognition. His company wants to promote him to to manager soon while I feel like I’m licking shit off the floor for a pat on the back. How do I not get jealous???

Wanting a new computer for games and stuff. Mostly so I can play the new flight simulator when it comes out. Don’t want to spend a fortune- any good value recommendations? :)
