Just so you know a friend of mine was in the same scenario. Had NO clue about computers at all and was still able to build one for around $600 I believe and runs anything he can throw at it.
I don’t think you can find too much that are good at running games for reasonable prices (under $1000) for pre-built.
Custom built is ideal IMO. You can go to any PC repair and ask for the gamer in store. They will be able you with determining the parts. Order them off NewEgg and let manz build for you. You will be in absolute heaven and never buy prefab again. It’s like making a cake from scratch, you’ll never want box cake again.
This doesn’t answer your question of a computer but you should get the Xbox series x when it comes out. A similar computer could easily cost you $1.5-$2k
It’s not official yet but speculation is saying it’ll be $500
Even a $1k PC built by you (cheapest opt) would still not run the new flight simulator game the way you would be hoping for

A1, not everyone requires 4k at 60fps.

It's not as hard as it seems
Are you looking to buy it built or build yourself ?

Laptop or desktop
No it’s only for home. Can’t really think of any real benefit of the laptop, other than space maybe?

You can pay me $1000 and I will play games for you
Buy it myself. I know little about computers. Are there good off the shelf options?
Having built a PC, I can say it’s not as difficult as it seems and is a lot more cost effective than buying off the shelf, like sub-$1k for a solid PC that will run most newer games at higher settings, whereas off the shelf will definitely run you over $1k. Feel free to connect if you want some help/tips/tricks.
Looking for someone who will build for me. Anyone hire someone to do the build? Not finding good options so far
P1 building a computer is actually super easy, it’s like legos - you just out the pieces in the right spot (which the motherboard manual will tell you exactly everything with pictures)
The hardest part is probably picking the right components but fortunately there is a website for this mentioned below
Just bought this computer for 800 (including shipping) so far it’s running all my games on the highest settings with no frame drops. But it only has 8 GB of RAM so not sure if it would run that Flight Simulator game on highest settings. Good luck with the search my friend!
Ram’s pretty easy and cheap to upgrade. Buy 2x 16 sticks and just pop them in
I’m a big flight simmer. This should do the trick.

Apparently they’ve been very mindful of frame rates while creating the new sim. But I mean, the thing about flight sims is that even nasa computers can’t run them with all sliders to the right. Always tons of factors, but this rig with a little extra ram and sure, a 4K screen, will do you just fine.

What do you use for an operating system if you build yourself? I've looked at the build sites and they really don't mention the software aspects of the unit.
I'd like windows since I also want to use it for non game programs.
Windows 10 but unfortunately it costs $100+.. you can get a bootable version but at the bottom right it’ll have a transparent banner telling you to upgrade and you can’t customize some settings. I’ve been using one like that for about a year now and it’s been okay
