today I choose violence

Thought this was interesting. Across 160 teams of researchers, just about all failed to make good life outcome predictions on things like GPA, evictions, layoffs, and others. Data followed 4.5k families across 15 years, with 13k features (varied over time). Haven't looked at it directly yet, but will be turning the docs and data inside out... In the meantime, authors claim this as showing the limits of ML. Oh, and it's published in PNAS, so you know there's some big publication energy there.

Even tableau v5 from 2010 is better than powerBI today
Tableau. Every time.
As other people have already pointed out, sometimes clients don't want to pay for the cost.
If you really want to save money, only creators need a paid license. Readers or users can use free reader.
Tableau all the way.
I hear Looker is the bee's knees
I like both. I ironically have not been using Tableau as much because government clients simply do not want to pay for the licenses. Therefore, I have been using PowerBI more often and grown to like it. The data visualizations still look better in Tableau but PowerBI is capable of some awesome dashboards.
The question clients should be asking is whether Tableau is far enough ahead to warrant the licensing cost compared to PowerBI included with Office365. I doubt it personally
Maybe not Power BI for viz, but for data manipulation and modeling, Microsoft blows tableau out of the water
