Tax - can I remain on the manager level permanently? Do they start to give below rating year on year since you are an experienced manager now and it was expected out of you so measuring against new managers/peers would be difficult?

EY has a workforce in tax called EDGE, where you can be a manager level and not worry about up or out.

There is a career senior I work with at PwC. It weirds me out to review her work when she has 10 more years of experience than I do.

like

😳 10 years

not in public accounting because its structured to have people progress or get promoted to make room for those below them to progress/get promoted. but you could probably switch to corporate.

Not always true

This is absolutely doable at local firms. I have a hard time picturing this in big 4 and most national firms.

like

You can but you will have to communicate clearly with your PML as to why and come up with a spin story of how it benefits the firm.

smart

Mind sharing some of the content/examples to think of?

Come join a top 25 firm and work remote and get paid HCOL. We let people stay at whatever level you want.

Citrin Cooperman, but other firms offer this too but the trick is to find firms that only have offices in HCOL.

Something has been bothering me for a long time and I want to get it off my chest.

My firm does upward feedback and I asked about 10 of my team to participate so that I could be a better supervisor for them. My results: I got mostly great feedback with constructive points, however along with it I received the meanest, most cold hearted criticism I’ve ever seen (con’t in comments).

LinkedIn is a garbage app where I can’t even post my opinion or experience because it will go against the mainstream ideologies. If I even “like” a post then I worry that my peers and managers see what I like and suddenly I need inclusivity training. What a load of shit! You can’t be who you truly are on that app. Which is why I like fishbowl so much, the anonymity is a game changer. If LinkedIn was a anonymous, we’d see a lot more support for Kanye and a lot less LGBQT material. Bet!

It’s hard to trust the partners/leadership when they want us to return to office as being better when we increase offshoring? Also, the pressure on billable hours when all that really matters is how much our fixed labor costs vs. how much we can bill (which is usually fixed fee or at least a range) and the fixed labor costs of offshoring is significantly cheaper so the hours don’t matter. Am I mistaken by this viewpoint?
