So don't. Introversion is real, and you're not being "anti-social" just because you need some time alone to recharge. Anyone who thinks that you're a worse team member for taking the night off is wrong (and if they don't try to understand, they're also an asshole). Some people recharge alone.

like

come hang with us OP! Don't be anti social!

like

Thanks guys ... I'm actually a complete extrovert .. just having one of those days
I guess you are right D2.. it's not a big deal and I don't need to care about it

like

Nah. Explain it to your team. And btw––if you recharge better alone (at least some of the time), you're not as much of an extrovert as you think.

Introversion doesn't mean "shy and quiet"––it just means that after a long day of teamwork sometimes you need to recharge by being alone.

like

D2 I agree .. but I like going out in the evenings and doing small talk with people .. but we extroverts also have our off days where we want to be left alone .. happens once every few weeks or so

like

agreed OP

like

D2 Well said. I like people but desperately need peace and quiet in the evenings.

agreed D2. I'm an introvert and this I hate the stereotypes, I'm also extremely social and people love being around me, and I'm far from shy in any way. It's the same with the term alpha - people just don't understand it and just roll with stereotypes and assumptions.

Hey Dallas folks!

I want to get to know the local private companies. I worked at a private company with 2-3k employees before my MBA. They had an amazing culture, but limited progression opportunities. I'm thinking about looking for a smaller company (couple hundred to couple thousand employees) in the Dallas area and looking to find an amazing culture.

Anyone have recommendations on companies with great cultures in the Dallas/north of Dallas areas? (I live in the Plano/Allen/Mckinney area)

One of the reasons I want to transition from industry to consulting (tier 1) is that I get frustrated when I have to collaborate with mediocre people. My assumption is that Tier 1 consulting firms hire really sharp people and if I can get in, I’ll be collaborating with folks on top of their game (not expecting much from clients). I’m aware there are personal aspects I need to work on like my mindset, patience etc etc, but I just get so frustrated with blatant stupidity.
