Yes! Teachers need to continually strengthen their areas of weakness. Maybe they would if they weren't just trying to stay afloat.
We have the same experience in science where teachers/students/parents will say that they aren't good at science. It's a detrimental mindset.

Well, I always tell my friends that I'm not a human calculator, despite being a math teacher. Sure, I can do many things mentally, but not everything. My typical defense when some colleagues think that it's weird that I can't calculate everything quickly is to ask the English teachers if they can read a book in 10 seconds.

Also, to all the teachers that say "I can't do math" in front of their classes, it really gives them the okay to not try and give up. So, please stop saying that.

I have a fully furnished 1 BR apartment with a large private terrace with grill, reclining sun chairs, lounge chairs, and outdoor 6 seater table in Midtown East available for month-to-month rental.

I am asking for $3k/month (which is lower than what I pay), but am flexible depending on interest.

Building: full service, door man building with elevators and laundry. The building gym is also open using an online appointment system.

Need advice. I’m a super senior content EP at a well known agency in the U.S., where I’ve been for quite some time. Checked out http://Glassdoor.com, and I make at the high end of the ranges for similar agencies. In the past year I’ve also taken on additional responsibilities (outside of traditional EP duties) that have doubled my workload and raised my profile quite a bit.  How should I go about brining up a sizable salary bump (some creatives and even planning peeps earn more with much less responsibility)?

I’m teaching summer school at a high school, and the co-principals have asked me to focus on only 2 to 3 chapters worth (what they are calling “2-3 standards” in the eight days of summer semesters. However, they are also asking me to give kids the midterm and/or final at the end of each period, which covers 4-5 chapters each semester. What would u do in this "hypothetical" scenario.
1. Student gets 95 percentile on standardized tests in 1st grade.
2. 2nd gr teacher, capable and flexible but a little old school.
3. Parent, from foreign country, wants us to teach 2 years ahead of where student is at in math and reading in case they have to return to other country.
4. District's old standard for acceleration is at the 97th+ percentile and other students are much more"advanced".
5. Parent wants detailed steps for teacher's plan

I finally was able to convince my principal that we need a consistent math intervention at the MS level (grades 5-8). (Right now, we are just "doing our own thing," which isn't helping students progress much.) Does anyone have any suggestions? It would be beneficial to have some sort of progress monitoring tool as part of the program, if possible. Our classes run roughly 55 minutes (which is too long for an intervention, in my humble opinion).

Thanks for any advice.

My district has finally gone 1-to-1. Is there a good app or website that I could use to have students submit answers anonymously while going over problems in class? I did this last week using Kahoot to go over a state testing review packet. It was great because I could see how many got the right answer and move on if no one missed the question. However, I would like to do it without having to create something in advance. I hope this doesn't sound confusing.
