I’ve put myself up for L4 promo this cycle. Assuming I get it, what would be the best next steps to optimize for long-term growth/TC?
My understanding is that L5->L6 is extremely painful at Google. It may be easier to leave for a handful of years and gain managerial experience before returning.
L4->L5 is less challenging; however, I’m under the impression I can do this quicker at another company (if I leave after being freshly promo’d) AND get higher TC.

The career services lady tries to track exit comp by level. Perhaps she could be a resource as well?
I’ve seen a lot of internal positions that typically ask for 2 YOE banking or 3YOE consulting. Waiting for that little bit longer is really worth it
If to a lower tier consulting firm, you can typically expect ~90 base, not sure about in-house
There are a lot of Analyst and Senior Analyst roles that seem in line with an A2 at 18-24 months. Bases can be anywhere from 65-80. Confirmed with a colleague doing internal strategy at Caterpillar.
