Need advice. I’m a super senior content EP at a well known agency in the U.S., where I’ve been for quite some time. Checked out http://Glassdoor.com, and I make at the high end of the ranges for similar agencies. In the past year I’ve also taken on additional responsibilities (outside of traditional EP duties) that have doubled my workload and raised my profile quite a bit. How should I go about brining up a sizable salary bump (some creatives and even planning peeps earn more with much less responsibility)?

Always ask for more, don’t ask for 55 and hope for it. You might be lucky and get the 55 or they say no and give you 53. When u ask for 58, your outcomes are better, you either get that 58, somewhere between 55-58 or the least desirable 53-54
I was an inexperienced idiot when I was negotiating my first job. I asked for 45-50 and luckily I was working with a great recruiter for the company who told me "that's low for us, I'm going to get you at least 50, try for 55". I think it's just fine to ask for 58 and settle for 55. 3k+ isn't extravagant
You can ask for it, but also recognize you’re an intern. That average may come from half of people who’ve already been in that role a little while and gotten raises. Just a thought! Good luck!
I’ve had that experience with a recruiter. Once. Never again though
I make 50 : | this is my first Advertising Job but I also worked as a graphic designer in house for a year after graduation.. now I feel like I make to little -_- Also I’m in pharma shouldn’t it be more ?:0
@junior AD1 you are def being unpaid. Pharma makes a lot more than non :/
Ask for 60 and see what happens- always pays to be bold. One of my biggest regrets was asking for a range A-B and they gave me B (meaning I could've asked for more)
Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahha try again. Average is really around 50 when you start 55 is the raise - but you get OT if you’re lucky
Or do I ask for $55 and hope for $55
Thanks! Do you suggest I ask for $55k then?
^^ yes
I got the job through an external recruiter so maybe the got a chunk of my salary
Nyc has overtime laws under 52k I believe. So it’s unlikely you will be offered lower than that, if your agency is like mine.
Also asking 2-3k isn’t much money in this business. It’s all about being firm that it makes all the difference to you if the number comes in lower
I get paid over time tho 45 an hour and we work a lot over time so maybe 50 wasn’t so bad
If you’re an intern, be happy you’re getting the job. Most of the interns I had weren’t worth hiring, especially the ones from Miami Ad Scam. I went to bat hard for the few worthy ones, but the salary was always quite low. It sucks, but you just aren’t profitable when your CD needs to treat every assignment like you’re a student. When you start selling work, that’s when you can ask for money.
