The daily influx of email is so overwhelming! From teacher, parents, students, and vendors, i feel like I am batter by a constant flow of emails. I tend to only check email at the beginning of the day, during my planning period, and at the end of the school day (and that's just my work email!). How often should a person check their email?

Definitely in the morning to see if there are last minute changes to the schedule. Briefly at end of the day. You could put an automatic reminder that all emails will be returned during regular hours for those sending emails after 5.

Sometimes in person conversations are better than sending an email. I think people rely too heavily on emails to avoid face to face contact.

I agree. Another thing is that it's easy to miss important cues without body language, eye contact, and tone of voice.

When I do check my email, I try to process them in batches. This means reading, responding to what needs an immediate response, and filing or deleting the rest.

When I tell you I felt this on a personal level. My inbox is literally always full and I can't seem to keep up with all the emails. Half the time when I finally do sit down to deal with it most of the emails end up being trash.

Hi! I’m doing some research on employee benefits (medical insurance, 401k, HSA/FSA, commuter benefits) and was hoping to connect with People specialists or HR professionals in the comp & benefits space. I’m trying to better understand any pain points or challenges you might face with utilization/enrollment. Anyone interested in connecting? Thank you!

Graduating Ph.D. program 2021, received offer from tiny boutique for 140TC+random small boutique benefits. Would be better commute, non metro area closer to home. Waiting to hear back from well known life science boutique (think ZS, Clearview, Putnam). Offer would be for NYC office, would likely relocate.

If offer is given, a) at what $ is this worth and b) is brand everything for first firm out of school?

Also would the life science boutiques reasonably pay more than that?
