The whole advertising industry culture has made me cringe since day one. I have fun doing my job, but that’s just it- a job. And that’s okay. I just cannot get into being ride or die for this. It grosses me out. Count me out in the advertising agency circle jerk. I’ll be out hiking a mountain thinking about nothing and feeling pretty great about it.

I feel like a moron for having kinda been ride-or-die at one point. I dabbled in the startup world about 10 years ago … turns out it might’ve had a better upside than getting laid off every other year in this business.

Same. Literally since day one.

Okay.

Cool

Are you typing this on a mountain while thinking about nothing?

Whatever. Live your life the way you want. But if you feel the need to publicly (anonymously ofc) degrade those who are a bit more into something that you don’t care about, maybe you ain’t all that cool and balanced. Or did you write it on a particularly foggy day when the view from your mountain was obstructed and had nothing else to do? Anyway, have a good everything.

How many times has an interviewer no-showed and the recruiter profusely apologizing on their behalf?
Happened to me with Mindtree recruiter, for an IoT leadership position where the interviewing VP chose to no show twice… after which I thanked the recruiter that I was impressed by their book of busi-ness and that it was intimidating to be thinking about the prospect of working for Mindtree… as I’m too incapable for those performance standards… 😂😂

How do people focus in the office? I'm a first year and I've been mostly wfh since I started and I'm super productive at home - my setup is comfortable, I rarely get interrupted, and I feel like I can stay really focused in my home office.

Our SAs started today, so the firm is making us come in more often. My office set up is so awkward, screens are too small, and I'm constantly getting interrupted. Not to mention the extra time it took to get ready and commute. How do people do this?

Any thoughts on the best certifications to get in order to help move forward? I have considered the CCP from World at Work, but it’s fairly pricey to get by the time you wrap up everything. I was hoping to get some thoughts on this from others? Thanks

1:1 with my boss, one of the areas of improvement was: “be more vocal”.

Being an immigrant who struggles a lot with the language barrier is just super hard to digest this. I do my best, he doesn’t know how hard is keeping a Google Translate tab open on my browser all day long, he doesn’t know when people look to you because you sound “funny”. Just wanted to vent it, and say for all the leaders out there, if you want us to be more vocal, give us a chance to be heard with our own voice and truth
