Is this considered taboo and is there any way a potential employer could find out if you weren't truthful about your current salary/bonuses? Is it illegal if you were to accept an offer for that potential employer to question you about your previous companies pay structure?

Those of you with 50%+ of your comp in bonus, do you factor that in when budgeting living expenses? Obviously we expect it but bonuses are never guaranteed.
