My insurance ends on June 30 due to a new job I am starting and I will be in a waiting period for insurance until August 1. I am not electing Cobra because I don’t foresee needing it and also due to the cost. Can the new insurance refuse to cover anything related to my pre-existing condition due to the gap in coverage?

Accepted an offer of employment with a mid-sized firm to begin in a couple of months. I’ve always wanted to shoot for big law but haven’t had the opportunity thus far. Overall, I accepted because I didn’t want to take the opportunity for granted in addition to the uncertainty with hiring due to covid. Would it be an issue to shoot for a big law opportunity in the interim? I know how this looks and sounds, so I definitely don’t want to set a precedent that I deal in bad faith.

I just finished my first full year at my firm and got close to hitting my billable requirement but fell a little short. Had a death in the family and my mom has been sick, which was distracting. Covid stopped travel billing for court/depo. Firm said I will not get a bonus OR a raise next year if I don’t hit hours. Seeking advice: anyone have experience dealing with a meddling sister-in-law (brother’s wife)?
