At Amazon, what is the difference between a Program Manager and Technical Program Manager? It looks like the Technical one gets paid about 25% more but not sure what roles/responsibilities they do differently. Amazon
Also how technical a background does someone need for a Technical Program Manager role?

I worked for PNC for 8 years. Promoted 3 times. My salary only increased by a total of $15k over those 8 years. Ultimately left for a different Bank. Same role but a $40k increase in salary.
Interesting you enjoy the culture. My experience was vastly different. Unless you were a white male over the age of 45, you were treated like scum.
You're right... PNC can help you get the experience needed to jump ship 🤣
I'm not happy with where I am pay wise either, but hoping an industry change will help over time.
Have you checked around to see if other companies pay more for your role?
I definitely plan on it if I'm not making moves by next year. Life kind of has me where I'm not ready to move physically for another year and to do what I'm doing for another bank, I would have to move.
I think you could discount most of these by 10-20% and feel a little better ignoring some of the epeen flexing posts :)
So you want them to lie to themselves to make them feel better...?
Myself and many others have found the best way to get a pay bump and promo is by looking externally. I jumped ship after being at the same company for 5 years and increased my salary by 50%. I made more in that jump than all my promos combined at the original company.
I tried and only got a 1-2.00 bump went from bank of america to amex 5 year’s experience as a collections specialist and feeling stuck
What do you do at PNC...?
I'm nervous to answer this. So, I'm purposely going to be vague. However, I teach. I am "certified" to teach 4 different lines of business.
I wouldn't compare yourself to other people posting. You have increased over 20 grand and several levels the past 5 years, that's not bad at all.
Thank you for the encouragement. It's actually only 10K because I lose bonuses.
I have a close friend in the banking industry. Something he noticed from his teller days is that you needed to move across companies to get those paybumps. He went from a teller to a VP in 12 years. Its possible, you just need to go where your talent is appreciate it.
