My situation is different from yours, but I will lay it out for you. I had cataracts and an astigmatism in both eyes. I had the option to choose good vision at distance or good vision close-up, which would mean I would opt for glasses either close-up or at distance depending upon which option I chose. I chose to have good distance vision and use readers for close-up work. I also chose precision lens implants that could correct my astigmatism when the cataracts were removed, which were not inexpensive. But the results have been spectacular. My up close work on screens and on paper has been much more comfortable than before surgery. And my distance vision has been nothing short of amazing. I haven’t seen this clearly since I was 10 years old.
Thank you! The lenses they offer now cover monofocal, extended depth of field, and trifocal, and each lens has an option for astigmatism. The downside is that these lenses won't guarantee what they claim to do. Works for the majority, but it may not work for me after surgery. Also, the Dr said it causes glare and a halo at night, and during the day, I may get foggy vision when dealing with a strong light source. It also decreases the contrast and color, especially on trifocal and extended depth of field. My fear is compromising my skills during night shoots or in a dark studio set with light sources. Also, lower contrast/color vision is not good for my skills as an art director. If anyone has had cataract surgery lately, that would be helpful too.
