If you're looking to buy in the Bay area you probably don't want to hear from me because I live in Ohio and what I put down and pay monthly would make you cry lol. But for conversational purposes, we put down $5,000 and my monthly mortgage payment including insurance is $997. My home is just under 2,500 sq. ft. and we have over half an acre of land.

Minimum’s $1047.72 PITI but I’m paying $2815 to try and knock it out faster. Got a 30 year at 3.125%
Ha, “it’s a principle(principal) thing”… pun intended? You’re not wrong, but interest is simply the price you pay to buy something you wouldn’t be able to afford otherwise. Think of all the wasted potential gains you could get in the stock market over the next 20 years 😉
It’s dependent on many factors. I pay $3k because I have a low interest rate and paid 60% of the total cost in cash. Your mortgage will vary based on credit score, type of loan, interest rate, down payment, PMI, etc. As someone who helps people with loan docs the range I’ve seen the last few months was 5k-9k for condos, 1 bed/bath, 2 bed/1bath, and 2 bed/2bath in Daly City.
Same price as rent here 😂
I’m crying because what are these prices 🥲 Is this real life, if so, I’m not prepared for it
Everything got crazy expensive from the pandemic. I want to cry when I see prices before 2020. The place I bought was a rental for $1,000 less than I’m paying for my mortgage back in 2019
San Francisco, 35% down on 2.15m, monthly payment for mortgage is ~5500, taxes ~2200, insurance ~380 (including earthquake).

Similar for me - 30 miles north of NYC, $5300/month for mortgage + taxes which are high in my area. Down payment was 30% of house price and the result of 15 years of savings! 🙌
20k down on 315k mortgage in 2017. PITI 1500 but I pay 2225. Phx, AZ
Suburbs just north of NYC, 20% down, 4,100per months (includes P&I, taxes and insurance) Would probably be 6k a month with todays rates and prices.
