Hey Industrial Engineers, do you know of a free simulation program I can use to simulate the material flow where I can input cycle times and OE% data to calculate supermarkets or inventory between processes?

I don't know of a specific program, but you could try using something like Visio or even Excel. You would need to create your own templates or use some of the existing ones online.

Thanks for your answer, I know how to calculate the quantities, but I just started in a new company that has never calculated inventories between processes and are afraid of trusting formulas. I tried to explain the rationale but are skeptic. For example, they want to have 3 days of inventory, but the calculation shows 5 hours because that's the way they've always done it. I think a simulation would help me explain it better. Thanks for your reply.

Try FlexSim. They have limited demo (30 character limit).

Thank you so much, I'll try it

Simio is pretty good but it isn’t free

Hi all, I’m in the north east metro area and due to the current RE market we decided to look into PA specifically Lancaster. Anyone in this market and have any thoughts on where it’s headed? The last owner bought for 35k like 15 years ago 😩 but hoping buying and holding for a few years will give a equal or greater returns over the long run.

Is there such things as FP&A positions in Big 4? If so, are there better times to make the change than others (I.e. at senior vs manager)? I’m currently in FP&A and looking to work at a Big 4, or another company that offers the ability to move abroad. My current company and many others I know about do not offer the mobility to do so until much later, which is not what I want. Thank you.
