The Pandora’s box is being opened and normalization of murdering those you don’t agree with is on the rise. It doesn’t matter what side of the aisle you stand with, if you don’t understand what this means for freedom of opinion, you’re blind. Extremism exists on both ends of the horseshoe, and pretending this isn’t a slippery slope we’ve been seeing for years will only make it worse. Violence begets violence. Killing someone for their views is fascism plain and simple. You don’t have to support someone to know their murder is wrong and perpetuates a scary new norm. I found almost all of his opinion vile, but the great thing about opinions is that everyone has the right to their own. And I would like to live in a world where we can continue to have that freedom without fear of getting murdered.

After seeing all the vile reactions from the side I considered myself on, I no longer associate with the current left. I’m still who I am and I still have my opinions but I no longer feel part of that group.

Social media stokes division. It's wild, before Twitter and the rise of social media from the mid 2000s through the early Obama years, race tension was at an all time low. Issues yes, but not like today. The algorithm rewards hate. People have become insane. CK was insane hate monger. Even the frame of your questions, as benign and well meaning as they are, have an us vs them frame. There's no collective "we" as humans anymore. We are dehumanizing each other. If you aren't consistently angry, afraid and outraged you don't click. So this little device in our hands is brainwashing both of us. And everyone else here. ;)
