Show me the money! I’ll gladly take a title with a pay bump. Extra responsibility isn’t all it’s cracked up to be.
I can understand it’s disappointing when you are expecting one thing, and another happens. But at least you have some money to show for it all at the end of the day.
I’ve had the opposite, more responsibility and no pay. So I’d def take the ghost promotion as long as it didn’t put me closer to the chopping block
I've yet to encounter a card reader at a grocery store checkout that asks me to input my job title. It just wants to know if I've got money in the bank. So no, a promotion in name only wouldn't impress me too much. I mean, I'd take it, but I'd naturally want more money and authority to go with it.
Bowl Leader
That’s the point you can’t have both. I accepted the VP title too and was told it was to justify internally a larger raise. Now the title did help me elevate to another position elsewhere where I did manage my own team which is what I wanted.
