Took on a pro-bono project for a local nonprofit. It's turned into the world's biggest scope creep nightmare. How do you gracefully (or not so gracefully) pull back from those situations?

Channeling my inner-account manager bullshit:

“We bit off a bigger chinch than we were expecting here, but it’s because we’ve got a big heart for this cause. We don’t want to overstay our welcome though, and our other projects are need some tlc so this is a great place for us to step away and cheer you on from the side lines!”

Beautifully passive aggressive lol.

“Wanted to take a step back since the scope of this project has expanded beyond what was initially anticipated… we love that you feel as excited as we do because we really believe in the cause, but the expanded scope is causing some resourcing burdens on our end that we need to address.

Here’s what we CAN do: (reiterate initial scope or whatever you’re prepared to do at this point). Beyond that we unfortunately don’t have the capacity to take additional scope on pro-bono without adversely affecting our paying clients. You could either find another partner to help on this additional portion of the project, or we could continue on in a paid capacity at a fee that would allow us to staff this project appropriately.”

Pro bono… meaning for free? Just say you got busy and don’t have time to finish.

Hi everyone! I’m a young professional right out of college getting into investing and personal finance management. Trying to better understand and educate myself on personal finance and investment strategies. Can someone recommend some recourses (books, podcasts, experts to follow, etc.) where it’s clearly explained for beginners? Trying to make sense of 401Ks, Roth IRAs, emergency funds etc.

My professional life at the moment is far from ideal. I’ve been on quarantine (long story, but a good one) for the last seven years. Royalties from my books don’t pay the bills. My entrepreneurial pursuits remain hampered. For the interim, I’ve been looking for a remote opportunity where I can leverage my skills in marketing, sales, social media, and elsewhere for a decent sum. I have a social media presence which, in recent years, reached millions. There has to be something exciting I can do.
