Tracking my wins changed how I do performance reviews. Instead of hoping someone notices, I log accomplishments as they happen—project milestones and process wins—in an outlook email saved as a draft. Makes showing impact way easier.

How do you all keep track of your wins? I need ideas!

I keep a Google Doc where I note down wins as they happen. When I started doing it a few years ago something I realized was how much I would forget if I hadn't noted it down. That material has come in very handy when trying to negotiate for a raise, I can point to things I did that were productive.

like

I’m the most forgetful. I always write things down. So, I’m surprised as to why it took me so long to start doing this. Even when I just get a phone call from someone, I’m ready to take notes because I know I’ll forget.

That's a great idea. I would encourage you to periodically back it up to something a little bit more stable so you don't lose it in case of a outlook outage or something like that. I like to have mine in a couple of places just in case. I do something similar, it's a good way to take pride in my own accomplishments.

like

Absolutely! Thank you for sharing this great idea 😊

can you give an example of how you would present it?

I’ve started to email my boss weekly updates on things I’ve completed in the previous week and what I’m working on. The tracking list will be added to my performance review - these are done quarterly.

I started doing this when I was revamping my resume, highly recommend it whether you are job searching or not. It’s great for keeping track of metrics and numbers that I will inevitably forget about when the time comes to discuss them.

like

Yes it’s much easier to compile the list as you go.

Additional Posts in Salary Negotiations

I’ve been approached my by company that one of our large clients (who im currently project managing for) is looking for a consultant of sorts, and if they hire us, I’d be the first person asked to take on this consultant role. This isn’t something my company typically offers and would greatly change the scope of my role. Has anyone ever taken on a role like this? If so, were you able to negotiate a percentage of the consulting fee? Or was it a bump in salary during the project?

I was approached on LinkedIn for an early career recruiting role in DFW, TX. I don't have direct experience, but I have the university experience/connections from working in career services. This is the first time I've considered work outside of higher education. I said my salary expectations are minimum $90k and that didn't seem to be an issue. Am I asking too little, too much? How can I know I'm getting the best salary and not just settling at the low end of the range?

Does anyone know comp for an L4 Global Account Rep role (base, equity, bonus). I’m asked to give my expected earnings prior to going into my final round. Any advice would help!

When I negotiated my comp, all my discussions were around me being a junior and I only accepted my comp for that reason (would not have accepted if I was step above junior since it was low). Negotiations happened with HR, but my offer letter and documents never mention junior (but I have proof from HR saying I am a junior). How do I approach this with my boss as I’m not sure she’s aware I’m actually technically a junior? Revolving around asking for a move up + raise
