Both are in same-ish space and around same size. Would say from my knowledge Protiviti is probably better placed in most technical areas
Would try to find out what Capco and their (now) parent company did during the pandemic. Pro did not have layoffs, maintained raises and bonuses, and paid additional bonuses and stipends based on our performance so far during the pandemic. Our culture is typically a differentiator for us, which typically means lower compensation compared to other professional services firms. Also, I can count the number of 60 hour+ weeks over 9 years on one hand, I’d say I average 40-45 hours/week.
Big con is that we are not doing enough (imo) to grow reasonably. We’ve had an incredible amount of growth and have tried to hire to keep pace but are not doing enough to retain so we have adequate staffing/skillsets. The answer too often is “we’ll figure it out” which just translates to leadership finding and leaning on people who don’t have boundaries to get work done, which means hours are likely going to grow. Maybe this is a con of all professional services firms, but it’s not something that happened too often when I started 9 years ago (or I was insulated from the worst of it).
