Trying to land a job at Google is one of the hardest things I have had to do. For most of my life, I have been always grinding out results by sheer hard work, outworking the next person, out preparing everyone else, literally putting in more hours in than most people. It worked when I was in college, for my first few years working professionally, but not for my main dream, landing a PM position at Google.

Have you read the book “Cracking the Code” ? It talks about the process to get an interview with the big tech companies

It's just that at the boundaries of what we know, a person is in an "unknowable" area. That is, there is no precision here. And the person who selects the personnel does not know you completely and acts to some extent intuitively. The human factor. Censorship is also possible. Perhaps your views do not correspond to large corporations. This does not mean that you are a bad specialist.

If sheer intelligence, grind ability, past wins, being smarter than the rest was enough, getting into any Top Tech org would be a cakewalk.

It's supposed to be incredibly difficult. Ok well lately it's been ridiculous but that's the era we are in.

Keep trying and looking for your angle!

You can hire a headhunter or a coach for yourself. Maybe that might help.

Have you built the right foundation and product background to be able to do this?

I feel like I SHOULD say something to someone though, right? Idk. I’ve been on the job hunt for a while now and am not really having any luck, which is just adding to my despair. What should I do?

With product design questions, I struggle to identify user groups. Once I do everything starts flowing and I’m confident. But the initial identification of user groups is something I find challenging. What’s your go-to way of doing this? For example, the question “design a podcasting app for truck drivers.” What types of truck drivers can I select so that I can prioritize a user group to focus on and begin identification of pain points and solutions?

I need advice. I moved into product management under a year ago to an early stage startup. The first few months went well, but the last 5 have been chaotic. It feels like we’re becoming more sales led, there are too many pivots (I expected some) our roadmap is becoming influenced by sales/ceo. Essentially, we’re trying to do much. It’s happening so much I’m starting to lose confidence in the company/strategy. It’s also causing me anxiety…
