Trying to strengthen my LinkedIn profile. I had a job for 9 months that had very low pay and no benefits, and when I left the company got mad at me, so when they were called for employment verification (I HAD to include them in the background check), they said I was "not eligible for rehire" which looks like a bad reference. I had been leaving that off my resume for this reason. Should I include this on LinkedIn & resume to avoid a 9 month gap in employment and just not use them as reference?

It’s illegal to share that you aren’t eligible for rehire

Legally they can only confirm dates of employment

You might have legal recourse here if you want it

like

I don't think it is illegal in CA.

Yeah I think this is good advice. You gotta include the company and just get ahead of any potentially negative things they could say if contacted. But yeah I'd leave them out as a reference.

I think it’s worse to leave it out. I think when they pull employment history check every previous employer within a reasonable time span comes up so that would be more confusing? 🫤 come up with a good way to explain that the role wasn’t in line with your goals

like

I would suggest having someone pretend to be a company calling to verify your employment. See if the add an additional negative comments. If you have a reason to explain it in an interview then that would be good. I had a similar situation and I had to say that I couldn’t give a 2 weeks notice as I had an offer and it would be revoked if

I didn’t start on there start date

I applied for a job at Embark about a week ago - should I be worried that I haven't heard back? How long does it usually take to hear back from a company after applying online? It's been a while since my last job search and I don't want to get too worked up after only a week if I don't need to.

Out of curiosity. How would a company view a potential candidate who has a period of unemployment to study for the CPA. I am considering to start studying for the exam but I know I would need to leave my employer in order to give 110%. I am contemplating the idea of at least passing one part while employed. Then leaving my employer to study FAR. I am considering to leave my current employer anyways, so it’s more of how my future employer would view that lapse.

Have others found it hard to transition from Audit to Financial Analyst? All the recruiters I’m meeting with are telling me I probably won’t get an interview since they’re looking for someone who’s ready to hit the ground running.
It’s discouraging because I’m a fast learner, and from talking to my friends who are Financial Analysts, it doesn’t seem like what we do is so dissimilar.
