The time is tasks me to do tasks is way more than what it should be. I'll be in the middle of writing an email and want to look up a word and end up on a completely different web page for over an hour. It really hurts me when things are on a tight dealine.

The Pomodoro Method can help with this.

Giving into distractions. I had to physically remove certain things from my day to day work life. For instance, I've learned I cannot be trusted having my phone in easy reach. Every notification is a setback. Now, I keep it on silent in my drawer. It's worked wonders for my productivity and concentration.

like

I need my phone to log in to client environment so I have to keep it around…makes it hard to put it away.

Going from task A to task B is like dropping a toddler in a room of candy and hoping they get out the other side.

Poor communication from management on what it is they want. I personally am mission oriented. I have no problem completing anything if direction is clear.

like

Agreed! I was told that my questions are “elementary” when trying to get clarification. So I stopped asking.

Actually doing the tasks in a timely manner. I struggle with just sitting down and working in a meaningful way. I waste so much time not working.
I previously tried the Pomodoro Method and that was useful but I would forget to set the timers. I’m going to be trying again.

No attention span. I get distracted every 5 mins. I try to do a million tasks in one go

My procastination! It takes me a long time to start an activity. In reality, I could finish it in just a few hours.

I love being a nurse because it keeps me on my feet and there's always something to so I'm never sitting anywhere for too long, but I have a bad habit of forgetting what I'm doing in the middle of doing tasks.

like

I'm a procrastinator to the point where I consider myself lazy. But I think I am getting better.

My distaste for uncomfortable situations while knowing that going out of my comfort zone is the best thing I can do for myself and my career. I either take too long doubting myself or backout altogether. Slowly learning to step out into the world.

Does anyone have a list of the things (food, drink, other OTC meds) that make adderall less effective? I know I can simple google search and ask my doctor but want to hear other peoples thoughts…I love drinking my coffee to wake me up in the morning but I’m afraid it’s making my meds less bc of its acidic nature 😵

I have tried absolutely everything I can think of to limit distractions during the work day and none of it has worked. Working from home has only made it 100 times worse because now I know there are other more interesting things to be distracted by all around me. What do you do to hold focus during working hours? What will get me to be able to work for longer than 35 minutes without getting distracted?

I keep starting huge projects or hobbies and being intensely into it for about 10 days/2 weeks, after which I forget about it and the project just lays around my house for months until I get interested in it again or I toss it out/donate it. It was fine when I was living alone but my partner is seriously frustrated with how messy the house gets and how much I spend on supplies for these things. How can I be less impulsive OR how can I stay motivated past the 10 day mark?? TIA

Has anyone else tried Strattera, had success, and a few months later felt like work was a struggle again? Am I imagining it? Anyone had luck finding a good therapist who actually understands ADHD? Getting advice like "try taking a walk every day" and "practice these breathing exercises" is driving me crazy. I need actual solutions and shit, not just platitudes and internet worksheets.

I told my boss about my ADHD in confidence because I was looking for a small accommodation (working from home x2 a week). I got it, but now I lowkey feel like she told other people in the office. I'm not sure if I'm being paranoid but someone I'm friendly with in HR has been acting weird since Monday, which is when I told my boss. Would she have to tell HR legally? What should I do?

Anyone here struggle with drinking enough water every day? Growing up, I drank a lot of soda and fruit juices but since 2020, I’ve been trying to be one of those people who always has a water bottle. They say you drink some when you first wake up but I never have a taste for it and then never remember to start drinking until about noon.

When it is not an urgent or time bound task, I tend to not finish tasks but my mind wanders to some other tasks. How do you stay on task ? Would love to hear your suggestions. Thank you!

Just here to say I’m so thankful we have this safe space. People who aren’t diagnosed generally have misconceptions about ADHD and its symptoms, and I’m so grateful we have this bowl to seek help, learn from one another, and sometimes just vent! It’s looking like my job is gonna start asking us to return to the office. We have an open office plan and before we wfh FT I would save all my work for my telework days bc I can’t get shit done in the office. I’m having major anxiety about them making this decision. I know I’m not alone that people don’t want to return to the office. My ADHD and the open office just makes working from the office a nightmare and I’m feeling really nervous and kind of resentful.

Anyone a manager? I’m recently diagnosed (26F) and I can’t help but beat myself up everytime I fall short of my to do list. Makes me feel like a huge disservice to my team. I’ve been trying vitamin D and working out, but it makes my “highs” and “low” SO extreme. The simplest things are so complex in my mind.

If anyone feels similar, how do you manage these feelings? I’m personally considering switching to an individual contributor role, but can’t help but feel like a disappointment if I do.
