The process is tedious, and pointless. Just drains time. My “cd” didn’t follow up on anything from last year. feel she only really cares about her own career trajectory. I read the revised US OMC policy yesterday, no pay rises this year. lots of reductions in benefits, how do they keep us motivated?! career progression is challenging. feel fortunate to have a job, yes, of course.

To everyone saying it's pointless, they serve a very valuable purpose - to keep salaries and promotions down. Once they get your goals on paper, they have objective things they can point to and say "well, I don't know if you exceeded or fully met these goals 100%" if and when you ask for a raise or promotion.
Reviews are for HR and management to make sure they have justification for keeping you where you are.

So if you don’t meet then it’s easier for them to let you go. Make them as easy as possible when you write them. If you’re a manager, be sure to not push back on your direct reports’ goals either.
Unless there is potential for a bonus and there usually isn’t, this is a pointless exercise. Most agency execs aren’t qualified to assess business performance anyway. They just want awards.
