I'm sorry you've been through all that. Honestly it's a horrible market, and even people who haven't been through all that you have are still struggling to land roles. Keep your head up and just remember it's a numbers game.
Absolutely, and I think that's a good attitude to have. The only way your story becomes NOT a success story is if you give up, otherwise success is always on the table. Take care!
I was fired from the firm I was at for several years after a public and very embarrassing mental health/alcohol-related incident. I was unemployed for 4 months and I applied to everything and anything. You will get something it is just a numbers game. The firm I’m at now is a much better fit too.
Thank you for sharing this. I am sure whatever I land will be a better fit than my last position was for me. It's just difficult to convey how hard it was in my last job without sounding like a traumatized, unequipped for life, out-of-work attorney. I will keep pressing on. Thanks again.
Hung in there and never give up! Bruce Lee quote to give you encouragement:
“Pain will leave you once it’s done teaching you.”
NGL, I enjoyed this. Thank you.
It took me 9 months to find a new role. I panicked the whole last 4 months. Don’t worry. You got this. The job market is beyond rough.
That is a lot to go through and I am sorry you had to experience that. That being said, I would suggest networking. Sometimes a referral can help you get your foot in the door somewhere.
I found a place to network on Facebook groups. I’m in a country with a smaller bar but my women lawyer group is having a meet up in my city next month
It takes about 12 months on average to get a role in this market. Don’t give up. Treat the job search as a real job 8-6. I applied to many openings and kept the record of everything. You can do this. Good luck!

Have you tried a head hunter? Good ones will critique your résumé and let you know what you need to obtain employment. Wishing you the best of luck. There are also lots of remote jobs. Don’t forget that niche.
Yeah, it’s brutal out there. I graduated in 2023 and have since done 122 interviews in the hopes of finding a full time job that’s not temp or freelance. (Worked full time all throughout night law school, but have only been able to get temp and PT freelance work since graduating). I started building my own horizontal CLM CRM app in July out of boredom …now that it’s gotten pretty far, my plan is to keep interviewing for in-house jobs while continuing to build my app. If I can get funding for it before I land my next full time role then problem solved.
