Ha ha ha, that debate is called Socratic learning/teaching.
It's always important to look at a glass both half full and half empty. It provides perspective that otherwise can get lost while processing emotions from experiences.
Vapasi is designed to help technologists back into the workplace in a way that is relevant to today's reality. In this case, a healthy debate is another form of getting perspective, reminding ourselves to think outside the box, be receptive to different points of view and learn from that discussion. Hope this comment offers a different perspective.
To each their own.
But when I joined TW as a grad, it was something similar we followed for the first month. Taking a simple topic and discussing/debating our views. It encouraged us to speak up even if you know you might be wrong. That your views are heard and reflected upon.
When I posted this opportunity on LinkedIn including details of no salary and no guarantee of an offer, I got around 15-20 people reaching out for a referral. The position closed before I could help them all.
If women are getting real world project experience even without pay, I think it opens up a door of opportunities for them. To get them up to industry speed and chance for an offer as well. Not to mention they are fully capable of applying for other orgs during this time as well.
But that’s the thing, it’s not. A lot of work goes into identifying and working with the trainers so we can create an experience that’s as close as possible to one led by a TW trainer. We’re not outsourcing it and letting them run it independently; we’re deeply involved in designing the coursework and how it’s delivered.
Instead of always assuming the worst, think about how we’re still trying to keep this amazing program alive in the best way possible given the current environment — so women still have the opportunity to benefit from the content, upskill, and return to the workforce.
It’s still a huge problem today that only about 10% of the IT workforce is made up of women. Why is that? Because once you take a break, it’s incredibly hard to come back. Most companies don’t even entertain a résumé that shows a gap.
This is a thoughtful, well-designed program that’s helping to break those barriers. So please, before people start finding faults, try to appreciate a good program when there is one.
that's how company is earning. Get hired people with very less pay, and put them in projects. Kaam toh ho hi jayega
They are not paid less..... When they convert they are paid regular salaries for their grade! It's irresponsible to post something without knowing the reality.
Earlier it used to be given best of the project dev lead who took time out of their project time. Seems like due to revenue they cant miss billing so as a formality of inclusivity and to gather some limelight they are conducting vapasi now.
Replied to your another message about what i feel
Curious - How are you making this claim? Are you a participant?
Obviously I am. It feels like I am back in primary school where I am made to sit and by heart stuff instead of learning by doing. Well, what else to expect from a company that doesn't even pay you during training, at least they could have given accommodation
@Author, Wow, don’t you think that’s a bit entitled to expect? You’re getting trained by a company so you can upskill and get placed. But you also expect them to pay you for training you? That doesn’t really add up. Regarding the training itself, from what I have experienced, the company is quite open to feedback, so if the format isn’t working, there are ways to raise it and it can be looked into. Anyway, sorry it didn’t work out for you. Hope you find another program that fits your needs better.
Even WITCH pays their trainees. So don't make it look like TW is doing us a favor by upskilling us. The only reason I joined this program is because I heard so much about TW and its "culture". But it seems like it's all a facade to show the world that they support woman
