When I asked PDM Vs PPMD track I didn't mean if you thought you were going to make PPMD soon 😂 - were you hired in the Project Delivery Model or in the traditional model? PDM is usually straight 40 hrs. a week and no expectation of firm initiatives, responsibility to find a project in a short time frame or be let go vs being PPMD track and being able to sit on the bench and line up the next project
Also YE was non existent?! That's impossible, your YE is a combination of project and firm work so your last project would still contribute to your rating even if you switched to a new gig (and everyone gets a rating). I feel like you're leaving important information of your story out...
@D1 - It's really too early in my career to be pegged as "PPMD" track.
@DD1 - My YE was non-existent because I transferred to new role. Had I stayed in my previous role I would have received a 1.
They can throw you out any time they want or need to do so. Don't quit, male them take the action to lay you off... That way you get unemployment benefits if needed.
4 weeks notice is generous..most ppl seem to be given same day notice. Is that when your current project ends?
@EY2 - I was offered severance after those 4 weeks. I just think the whole thing is odd... Seems pretty extreme to "separate" me instead of working to find me a different spot.
Also, was never put on any type of PIP and only had 1 negative formal review in last 3 years. I thought they couldn't ask you to leave without first putting you on a PIP. Any insight or advice of how to proceed?
Did you potentially tick someone off during the transfer? People at the higher levels can be petty to the extreme.
Were you on a non billable project? The firm does not like to pay $$$ to people that dont bring in $$$$ to the firm... so my guess is you did a side project for a while and deloitte no longer wants you to do that and leaves you the choice of leaving or go back to client work
Happens to sen mgrs here quite often, at least they give you some time. Shit canning with heart
+1 for missing details and odd, give us the truth OP
OP has to conserve data..no more firm paid phone
Are you PDM or PPMD track?
Was just done to a Director in an internal role in my group. Next years budget had a big hole after funding reduced from global and her salary neatly covered the gap. I think she got 6 weeks? I saw this done to a Partner a few years ago...4 weeks as well.
I have a feeling someone on my team had it out for me, but have no idea why. Is this a common thing in consulting, getting someone fired for not liking you? I understand the whole "hire/fire at will" thing, but doesn't your employer need a reason more than, "we just don't like him?"
OP, you need to provide the full story. Whatever you are saying doesn't add up. Been here for 7 years and never seen this happen without a solid reason. Sorry for your situation though.
It can be purely for budget reasons. Partners protect their pockets. I've seen this done plenty of times. In fact, at my firm, they cut five senior managers last year without warning. My friend was one of them. He said they told him it was performance issues, but he had consistent high ratings. Then they try to tell him it was utilization, but he was well above his range. Finally the director just brought in the HR person and 'separated' him from the firm.
How was your YE?
Like downsizing or performance?
I'm assuming OP transferred into S&O from Tech consulting
