I mean it doesn't count for it...And you can still do billable work that day if you want. But no the firm isn't going to give you utilization for participating
It does in deloitte , any time spent doing non client work , hurts you (unless you have 8 hours of client work already done for that day , and this is extra hours)
Wow that's insane
@pwc1 - no doubt it is
@PwC1 it does here (indirectly) because the denominator is fixed
All that matters is billable hours over available hours. Your available hours are 2080 ( barring LOA, etc) and you know you billable. Do the math. Why is this so hard?
Any activity that is not client work (except stuff that gives you adjusted utilization specifically) , hurts your utilization . Be it impact day , pto or anything other activity that yon do in place of client work
PTO doesn't impact utilization
At PwC even sick time doesn't count against utilization, as well as PTO
2080 standard hours as the denominator. Numerator is any billable hours or hours that count as adjusted.
@D3 yup. At 45/week and 12 holidays/year that means to maintain 95/90/85% you can have 28/40/51 days of PTO/beach time -- theoretically enough to use all your PTO but much less common in reality
Sorry, PWC. You are misinformed. PTO most certainly affects utilization.
My target is 85% which seems very reasonable. I always take all of my PTO.
The point D7 is that available hours are not deducted when you go on PTO
No top firm deducts PTO from available hours. Why would they?
Life would be so much better if we just said your target in billable hours because then idiots would get over this "I get hurt by taking PTO crap..."
It doesn't hurt you. It doesn't help you either. How do you not know this?
Pwc do you have 40 or 45 hour weeks as standard
S&1 is correct. PTO and sick time affect utilization negatively. That is why we don't have a 100% targets.
We have 40 as Standard and yes PTO does affect util. Targets for my group were 85%
