Was Debevoise lead Counsel to WBD, or was it Wachtell? Trying to assess whether it’s a mistake to move to Debevoise’s M&A group (i.e deal flow and clients).

Haven’t looked it up, but I’m assuming Wachtell is lead counsel given that this is its bread and butter.

Deb was lead here.

Debevoise has only one strength in M&A and that is insurance-related transactions. It has relatively little strategic work outside of that. Even the PE M&A is limited beyond CD&R. If your plan isn’t going in house, going to Debevoise is just asking to move again within five years.

They also led on Sanofi/Opella.

It was Debevoise.

SA1 / A2 thanks

WRLK was lead, but Deb was highly involved.

False — wlrk came in to address the hostile bid. Debevoise has been leading the transaction since it was taken from Kirkland. Use ur brain

Switching from commission to salary!

I’m considering a less sales-oriented role that doesn’t pay commission. The new role will have a higher base but lower overall earning potential.

What % haircut should be expected? As an example, if I make 100k (base + commission) today, would it be realistic to ask for 90k (10% cut) + equity to make up the difference?

I have 2.5 years of experience as a BI consultant primarily working with SQL and Power BI. I feel a little underpaid while currently making $75k. All of my performance reviews have been positive and I have been the lead/only BI developer on two of our largest and most public projects this year. Any thoughts on what I could ask for at end of year reviews for a salary increase?

I would just like to take this time to tell everyone that no matter what your role is, or who you work for.. that we work to live, we don't live to work.

I understand that statement has some degree of privilege.

However when things are all said and done, a lot of us won't be worried about the extra dollars we made or an additional title we got, but what we were able to do with the time we had.

Working on some law firm applications tonight and it sucks that I know that I am so capable and have a strong work ethic but firms can’t see beyond grades or the fact that I didn’t go to a t14 law school or prestigious undergrad. I’ve worked twice as hard and feel like I’ve barely even gotten half as much. It’s discouraging sometimes especially because I worked so hard with pretty much no guidance (first gen, poc, low-income) to get into college and do well and then get into a t30 law school

Completely and totally miserable at my firm and just need a space to vent because my friends are tired of hearing about it. I wish the worst part about it was the amount of work, rather than the completely toxic culture, lack of appreciation, arbitrary and back/breaking deadlines, lack of mentorship/feedback/training, and the fact that the associates act like they don’t even know each other. I cry every day and constantly am made to feel stupid for not understanding the highly technical (cont.)
