I was offered the same rate for my CF year in 2018. And this was for a SNF job in Washington DC! Can you imagine with the high cost of living in DC?! I rejected that offer too.
I’m now in a rural non-profit hospital in the Midwest. I work in outpatient and inpatient settings at only one facility. Hourly rate is $53 with a lot of amazing benefits and no set productivity standards. They even pay for my full medical insurance and we get a quarterly bonus of $2000.
They have made it so hard for me to leave! I still want to move to a city in the west coast but I worry it’s hard to find a similar set up. 😕
That is amazing and so outside the norm. I think I would hold onto that for a while if I were you. Cost of living is just crazy in CA, OR, and WA. Also, not sure you will make that much out west.
I agree with you completely. We are SO VERY undervalued and underpaid. I am working at a not for profit outpatient clinic. Great environment and wonderful bosses, but $60/hr as a contract employee. I had to really fight for that. So no benefits, I pay all my own taxes, FICA, unemployment, and if I need a sick day or vacation time off it's unpaid. I was making that same amount 25 years ago. If I went hourly with this company they would only offer $40/hour. Let me just say I have over 30 years of experience which seems to not make a lot of difference in this climate. Can I ask you all, what are all of our ASHA dues and ASH-PAC monies going for? Why are we still one of the lowest paid professions at our level of education? Don't get me wrong, I love my job and love being an SLP. I just don't understand why friends with bachelor's degrees can make twice my salary?
SLPA- central Texas (not Austin)- newly contracted with ProCare therapy ,about 50 kids on caseload $36 an hour. I have four years of experience
