Hey guys,
I got selected to HCL Technologies , had submitted my documents and all the required information also updated my joining form in discover HCl website. It also shows that my bgv is completed but I have'nt recieved myoffer letter it has been more than a week. I also have a service agreement to fill it requires my date of joining which I think will be in my offer letter. Can any one help me and say how will this move from now.
HCL Technologies offer being delayed and recruiter keeps saying that there's a problem with their "Offer release portal system." I have already stated my issues with relocating until after I have the offer signed and ready. The project is supposed to start on the 19th and I'm supposed to join before, or on that date. It's already coming up soon and I don't have the official offer so that I can confidently start the relocation process. Has anyone else recently dealt with this?

It is really tough to find good associates and time to train is always limited but there’s no getting around the fact that law school doesn’t prepare them for anything and they need to be trained like they’re going into a trade. It’s just how it is.
If you can’t make the time to train them, you have to find and pay for a fierce, driven and skilled senior associate type who really wants it. I understand that these types can be difficult to keep happy, etc., but they are out there and they are the lifeblood when utilized appropriately. Find the lion, not 5 cheap kittens.
I’ve always had the philosophy that when you find a lion, pay them more than you want to or think you can. Like one navy seal is equivalent to 5 regular troops, 1 lion can be as effective as multiple inexperienced associates.
Me too!
What area of practice and location? The more thought and effort you put into your need before engaging in the hiring process, the better off you will be. What qualities and experience are you looking for in your hire? What is your firm culture? What comp are you willing to pay? How big is your market? Can you work with a trusted recruiter to facilitate the process?
Are you litigation or transaction/corp? Can you recruit from opposing counsel you’ve encountered in recent years, who you believe to be competent? I’m a very junior litigation partner that (in my own view) falls into the category of candidate your seeking, but in litigation not transactional/corp.
Transactional and regulatory. Most of the firms on the other side of us are huge. No way to feasible poach opposing counsel given pay disparity
Find newbies who were paralegals before going to law school. Many know how to practice law already. And depending on your practice, a great paralegal can be more valuable than a young associate. No offense to anyone.
Now that is interesting
Agree with all above. In my niche real estate practice, our two senior paralegals are like senior level associates: they draft snd negotiate independently and we review their work. We don’t hire newbies because of the training issue. Plus you will lose them in 2-3 years, just when they start to be valuable. We have hired senior laterals with and without recruiters and can’t say the track record is better in one vs the other. Over the last 10 years, half our laterals are great, half were mediocre or worse. We have learned that with the great ones, we need to keep their comp high or they will bounce.
