$100k, while it is a lot of money, didn’t feel any different. I’m now a little over $200k, and all of a sudden it really does feel different. I am finally making more than we need (family of 4) am are able to finally start setting some aside.
Love that
I will say it depends as I made more money I got married and had kids. All those things are expensive and continue to get more expensive. I would recommend not having any of those things and life will be very easy.
True haha
No fear of repairs or things breaking. If it’s broken just fix it. It’s pretty good
Agree
Before my son I was able to save a decent amount when I was at 93k…. Now I’m 110k with my son and it feels like I’m living paycheck to paycheck. So it just depends lol
At Panera bread? Lol. Or Panera bread corporate?
Myself and my wife make about 400k with one toddler and a baby on the way. We are able to save a couple of grand outside of maxing out 401ks each month. Our biggest expenses are daycare, mortgage and grocery shopping. Money isnt an issue. My wife wants to stop working for a bit after maternity leave so we will see how that goes.
Congrats!
My last job change (current role) was the first large increase of my career (30+%) and I finally felt that increase in my savings goals. Prior to that the smaller increases were mainly just keeping up with inflation and a small gain in ground. For perspective, my comp is roughly 3x my starting career salary but I just now have 2x the spending power due to inflation.
78k -> 155k (190 total comp not including equity) when I left Crowe for a product company made an absolute world of difference. Sorry I don’t have an answer for exactly at 100k mark.
