Why are some attorneys better than others? In other words, what makes someone an average attorney that does average work versus someone who brings in the big, newsworthy cases and handles high-stakes matters? Is the latter attorney actually better at the job or better at marketing?

I've noticed Nigeria tends to be excluded from several charities and social impact focused business lists, in favor for nations such as Uganda, South Africa, Ghana, etc. I've approached some of these organizations and been told in a PC-friendly way that the corruption and undefined processes makes it hard to help Nigerians.
