Were I work there are too many cooks in the kitchen I have one set of attorneys telling me to do this and another set telling me to do that. They are always arguing with each other. Anyone have the same issue ? Really getting on my nerves and I feel like I am pushed in all directions constantly

I had the same exact issue where I’m currently working. Had the lead attorney having me do one set of tasks that I wasn’t actually supposed to be doing, and how the other attorneys didn’t know what they were doing. How she was constantly having to micro manage them because they’re lazy. The other set of attorneys telling me she is actually the lazy one and she didn’t attend her hearings ever. It was a constant battle and got to a point where the managing attorney had to send out a massive email to all of them telling them they needed to stop involving me in their drama and that I was only going to be following the sop I was given by my supervisor. Needless to say, she was eventually forced to resign because she was pretending to go to her hearings. Hang in there. This line of work is definitely not for the weak

Are the two sets on the same matter? If not, then just work in the style of the attorney on the specific matter, and in the style of the others on their matters. If it’s the same matter, what we do in my office is set those boundaries explicitly. Who is the lead attorney on the matter? Who is responsible for client communication, or communication with opposing? Am I to take direction from any attorney on the matter or just the lead? When there is a conflict it’s up to the lead to decide. Ultimately, someone has to be in charge and so determine that and only take direction from that person. When the others disagree, that’s not really about you and it’s up to them to resolve. Just extricate yourself from that discussion and do whatever you’re instructed once it’s resolved.

Considering leaving my agency after just a couple months in pharma - feeling underutilized and stuck.

My question: do I leave this stint off my resume entirely? List the parent agency instead of the wellness arm? Pass it off as freelance? Not trying to be dishonest I just know this experience probably isn’t relevant when going out for non-pharma jobs.

it feels like every survey about working from home is (poorly) designed to answer the useless question "would you rather work from home or from the office." I submit that the set of people who prefers to have only one of those two options, always and forever, is the null set. which means it DOES NOT MATTER because the correct answer is always going to be "make both possible." you're welcome, HR departments everywhere.

What was the hardest class year for you? I used to think first year was by far the hardest but now I’m a third year and I’m really feeling the pressure to step up. I work in finance and at this point I’m expected to handle closing documents, manage first years, draft some portions of major docs, etc. I feel like I’m always frazzled, constantly second guessing if I handled something correctly and anxious to answer calls from clients/OC. The worst part is I think people can tell I’m a mess....

Has anyone dealt with a lack of praise from attorneys? I'm not someone who needs to hear "good job" all the time, but we just got a huge deal closed that I worked really hard on and had a lot of overtime. And once it closed, the lead attorney praised the other attorneys, and said nothing about me or my work. I might just be overly sensitive, but it kind of stung. Thoughts?

I did it! I got an in-house Paralegal position after years of working and being burned out at different law firms.
