Get rest, eat healthy, and drink lots of water
Perineal massage. I didn’t get an episiotomy and I credit this.
Squats to strengthen the lower body. This strength will help when you push.
Walking a lot.
Drink plenty of water.
Towards the end I was exercising in the pool at my gym. It helped to feel very light.
I think this is pretty individual but I’m focusing a lot on my health and nutrition. First trimester is a wash because you’re so sick and trying to just adjust.
For me: nutrition and having a routine was key because so much of your child’s livelihood was affected by the prenatal nutrition they were exposed to during the womb. Once I found this out, I tried my best to push forward with my nutrition. Obviously it’s very individual and some women are literally only able to eat bare basics because they are so sick during pregnancy. But if you have a chance, you child will thank you.
- starting prenatals 3 months before getting pregnant / during “trying”
- eating beets, lots of folate (not folic acid)
- trying to eat sardines or salmon 2x a week
- walking! Trying to get walking at least 4k steps each day.
- pelvic floor exercises and stretching
