Nordstrom stylists can help. You don’t have to spend a fortune but they gave ideas on what to work with.
I've seen messaging for it but I didn't know it was actually a thing! Did you try it? How did you feel about it?
If you post a picture of clothes I could critique, I’m a bit of a stylist myself 🥹
Omg can we do a thread for this?
Just a practical tip: when it comes to elevating your personal style, it’s important to either take or leave trends versus embracing every trend you see being embraced on Instagram. Knowing your style will really help you identify which trends are for you and which ones aren’t. For example, wide-leg jeans are having a major moment but I’m not super into them as I don’t feel like they’re very flattering on me nor do they fit my personal style. So, don’t feel pressured into embracing something that isn’t you. You want your wardrobe to, at its core, be made up of classic pieces you find yourself reaching for over and over again.
Accessorize! Sometimes it is the final touch that completes the look. Add some dainty jewelry in your outfit.
Invest in quality pieces. Quality over quantity – always! Once you’ve established your personal style, try to move forward with a “fewer but better” kind of mindset. This will also help you actually like the items in your closet instead of feeling like you “have nothing to wear” every time you leave the house.
Accentuate your assets. What are the best parts of your body? Focus on the areas that you like best; choose clothing and accessories to highlight them.
Make sure you have enough basics in your wardrobe! And make sure the actual garments are what you are looking for in terms of fit and cut. For example, a look with black pants can be elevated with a wide leg pant instead of a skinny pant. I also find a few key accessories help like a nice watch and earrings. Make sure the outfit is cohesive. Pieces can be great alone but not work together. And sometimes less is truly more with accessories or even statement pieces! Pick something to stand out and keep the rest toned down. Without knowing what you think is missing and what your style is that would be my best guess!
Talk to a personal stylist at Neimans or Nordstrom. They're worth the time.
I believe that wearing accessories and jewelry always makes me appear more put together. Also, everything looks nicer on me when I steam or iron my things!
It helps if your clothing truly fits you nicely. Nothing that is too snug or too loose. Even more subtle than that is color. Choose hues that complement the tone of your skin. On Google, you can look up how to determine your skin tone. If you have a warm skin tone, choose jewel tones and colors with warm undertones.
Spend money on timeless, high-quality items like a leather jacket, jewelry, purses, scarves, and sunglasses. Since they don't deteriorate as quickly as shirts, shoes, and pants, I believe those are items worth spending a little additional money on.
You'd be shocked at how inexpensive a personal stylist is. You'll remember that for the rest of your life, so give it some thought. They will help you find the clothes as well as provide guidance on how to dress. They are aware of which clothing kind and cut will fit you the best for each brand.
Jewelry is one of my favorite ways to dress up outfits and is nearly usually my first choice. With a few pieces of jewelry, a great hairstyle, and ordinary jeans skirts and sneakers, I've actually transformed t-shirts into date-night-ready outfits.
I enjoy adding some flair to my attire by wearing stylish shoes. Instead of putting on my worn-out sneakers when I'm wearing a casual outfit like jeans and a t-shirt, I'll put on my black mules. You can choose any height that is comfortable for you. Or a pair of bright sneakers. I also adore how a belt can just complete an outfit.
Nothing goes wrong with a classy watch and simple necklace! Gold with gold, silver with silver, etc., is how I like to arrange my metals. It's a tip that is often overlooked but makes the whole outfit unkowingly cohesive.
Despite the fact that I wearprett basic pieces, I always make sure to look presentable, including having my hair done, shoes polished, and makeup applied. The grooming aspect gives a simple outfit a purposeful look!
I firmly believe that accessorizing is very important! I purchased a few interchangeable jewelry items so that I could feel coordinated by just wearing two or three of them with any given outfit.
I frequently wear fairly plain clothing, especially to work at my current place of employment. A great wide belt is what I've discovered makes the biggest difference in transforming them into a "outfit." I bought a simple, broad leather pants belt from Amazon in various different colors. Before leaving for work, I either fully or partially tuck my shirt in, fasten my belt, and appear to have done more than just put on the shirt and pants that were nearest to the closet door.
