I like to have notes if it's a virtual interview. I always write out the job description and some practice answers in my notes app and refer to them if I'm getting stressed out. The other thing I do is just dress my best. If I'm feeling confident in my skin, my interview is definitely going to go better

Pretend I'm outgoing.
Do my research on the company/position.

Eye contact with the camera and speaking slower!

I am on an internal IT audit project. The manager in charge and the director have no IT OR Audit experience. I’ve done both internal and external audits. They both said not to rely on audit standards when discussing gaps with the client. How do you do this? Serious question

Do I need to get recommendation or reference letter once I resign even if I already have an offer in my hand? Just curious and wanted to know if this will be of use later in my career

Alright, posting this again- but in the right place. I have a small NYC Fishbowl WhatsApp going and we’ve had about two meet ups so far. Just planned a third meet up at Tap Haus 33 for this Friday, if you’re free, drop by and meet some new folks.

DM me if you’re interested in joining the WhatsApp group. Also, lmk if you’re coming, the more the merrier :D

What should I reasonably expect from a junior?

I manage a junior developer that's been with the company for about 18 months. I end up providing them of TON of support. I need to give them extremely detailed instructions or they fail. For bugs, I need to point them to a specific function that's causing the bug. For new features, I'm basically writing their method signatures and defining their test cases.

I've tried asking them to do more on their own, but when I do, they fail spectacularly.

Additional Posts in Salary Negotiations

I’m interviewing with a startup and the range has a 40k difference from the lowest to highest point. It’s also pre-seed and comes with equity, and health, 401k benefits. It’s a director of sales role so I would eventually be recruiting and managing a team along with building the processes and strategy. What would you consider a fair compensation package? If they offer me something on the lower end of the range, is it still appropriate to counter with an offer that is over their stated range?

Started a new job a year ago, high performer. My manager suggested a promotion to Product Manager since that‘s the work I’m doing, but that would be a 50% raise. Higher ups decided instead to make a “new role” (not PM), that has no analog in the company and is hard to price via Glassdoor, etc. I feel like this is to limit my promotion salary to something like 10% from where it currently is. Is there anything I can do? FWIW: I have a PhD from top 5 program and am working in that field. Thanks!

When I negotiated my comp, all my discussions were around me being a junior and I only accepted my comp for that reason (would not have accepted if I was step above junior since it was low). Negotiations happened with HR, but my offer letter and documents never mention junior (but I have proof from HR saying I am a junior). How do I approach this with my boss as I’m not sure she’s aware I’m actually technically a junior? Revolving around asking for a move up + raise

I’m interviewing for a marketing manager role at a company based in SF. I’m genuinely excited about the role and the company but we’ve yet to discuss salary. I expect to be asked at some point, but my research has given me a VERY broad range. So I’m here to do a bit more research. I’ve got 5 very relevant years of experience and will have an associate manager directly reporting to me. Are there any marketers out there who can share their salaries in similar regions and experience levels?
