What are your thoughts on job hugging? It’s a fear of the current job market that makes people cling to their current jobs. I’ve been at my current position for 10 years. I don’t see myself as a hugger because I like my iob.

I can't see that there's anything wrong with hanging on to a job you're happy with. Sometimes I think the clickbait is just getting out of control, finding names for syndromes that aren't really a problem. And having a fear of stepping into the current labor market isn't something to be derided, that just makes sense.

I have felt that way about “imposter syndrome” for years. I felt it gave legitimacy to not try and apply.
I like my job, I like my company, they even pay me decently, so I don’t feel a push to move on. That being said, hearing so many stories about how long it’s taking to find a job and getting lowballed when they do, I’d just as soon steer clear unless I had no choice.
Me too. I can be nitpicky with the best of them, but I am thankful to be doing something I like and making a living out of it.
I think it’s valid as well to be sticking with a job given how difficult finding jobs is right now. Wanting security isn’t a problem. I think if someone finds themself wanting to change jobs, there isn’t anything wrong with applying to other prospective positions while holding your current one to ensure you have a means to take care of yourself.

Even in a place where I’m comfortable, I don’t believe any job offers security. I don’t like the POV that people stay only out of fear, which is a sad reason. Layoffs happen.

I’m in the middle of restructure. Love my company, love what I got hire for. Hate my boss, hate my actual role. So think I’m hugging since I’m not actively looking to get a new job with the current job market.
