Balanced portfolio: hows’s your stock: bond ratio? Within stock , which index funds do you invest ? I have mostly invested in vtsax and vigax, and tiny percentage in vviax. Do I need to increase in vviax?

If you're below 30 you don't really need bond in your portfolio. Positions in VTSAX is enough. Add in a bit of VBTLX each year after you turn 30. By 40, a 90/10 split, and by 50, 80/20.

It’s a solid maybe 😬. The idea is that bonds would actually lock in a return while stocks lose value in a bear market, but the problem is bond rates are not good right now. If rates improve, then it may be a better strategy, but until then, who knows what the right answer is. A small positive return is better than a loss, but is it worth trying to do that if you’ve got a longer time horizon and especially if those bond rates don’t keep up with inflation? That’s why a lot of people here are saying if you’re young, stay in the stock game. No perfect answers unfortunately.

You don’t need to do anything. Are these funds in different accounts? Vigax and Vviax are just subsets of VTSAX.

I’m in my early 50s and have 4% in bonds 80% in stocks. Other 16% in real estate.

Same account. What about bonds? I have no bonds at all. I am hearing mkt will start going down.

If you are young and investing for the long term, it doesn’t matter. Bonds will go down if interest rates go up. They will not go down as much as equity if they market crashes but can still go down. It is up to you if you want to hold some bonds too. I would suggest you ignore the news, assuming you don’t need the money soon. If you do, it should prompt be invested.

Scores consider the number of accounts that are paid as agreed. Your score was impacted because the number of these accounts is too low, or because you've missed payments recently on some of your accounts.

I’ve had radio silence from a small investment bank for about a week now. I’ve completed several rounds of interviews, but last Thursday the firm reposted the job I’ve been interviewing for. On Friday the headhunter said that they’re not sourcing new candidates and it’s probably just LinkedIn automatically refreshing the listing. She said they had a busy week last week but will make a final decision this week - is the delay and radio silence a bad sign or is this typical for experienced hiring?
