I am not a morning person so this would kill me off. I'd rather have the extra sleep, than have to get up at 5am to do stuff I could do later in the day. But you do what works for you!
Your schedule sounds very similar to mine, though I only do about 30 min for a home workout.
I’m a morning person, so this schedule reserves my most focused hours for the work I want to do on myself. Which in turn puts me into a positive state of mind for getting into my work responsibilities.
By the end of the work day I’m tired and wouldn’t do a good job of growing myself, plus then my whole family is awake and wants my attention.
As others have said, it’s about experimentation and finding what works best for you. If your current schedule isn’t gelling, switch it up.
Are you a morning person? If so, that works. If not, why are you trying to do so much before work instead of after work? Personally I have found that I will often hit the snooze button instead of waking up early for activities that don't feel essential (e.g., exercise, learning something new) in the morning and am happier doing them after work.
It is really a matter of personal preference. I would highly recommend experimenting and learning what is best for you over time. Decide what should be fixed and what is flexible. Some people say going outside for exposure to sunlight is essential for the brain (circadian rhythm) in the morning. Others say drinking two glasses of warm water is key. Jeff Bezos stays off screens for the first hour of the day.
Yes I am a morning person. Pretty naturally wake up at 6, but I find that if I want to prioritize the things I listed then 5 am it is. Like VP1 said, if I don’t do it in the AM other things creep into the schedule and then I feel like I haven’t done things for me.
I appreciate everyone’s input. I mainly wanted a gut check if anyone had any pro tips I wasn’t considering. Sometimes I flex the schedule; for example if I lift weights it’s in the morning and if I skip lifting I might flex a walk into the afternoon instead.
Why three hours? Is that with school?
Here’s my basic breakdown.
Prayer/devotional time 15 min
Exercise 45 min
Study new language 45 min
Breakfast 15 min
Shower, skincare, dress, 1 hr
On top of this, I’m in cybersecurity so knowing current events, breaches, new technologies is important and I’m trying to get it all in without feeling like I’m on a constant treadmill.
