What certificates or continuing education do we think will be the most in demand in the upcoming years? I’m thinking about continuing education but with all the AI advancements, I want to make sure it’ll help advance my career in the future.

I’d probably get a certificate or continuing education in something that will help you advance in your career… in my business it’s for the most part, it’s anything that The American College of Financial Services offers… or a CFA, if you’re in analytics…

I don’t need a cert or CE in AI to be an AI consumer, that’s reserved for those that create the models and backend services…

Just my opinion…

Thanks for sharing!

I think anything that combines technical comfort with business judgment will stay useful. AI literacy, data analytics, Excel/Power BI, SQL, project management, and finance-specific credentials like CFA or CPA depending on your path all seem practical. I’d probably avoid chasing random trendy certificates and focus on skills that show up repeatedly in job postings you actually want.

Hi everyone, I'm new to Canada and want to start my career here in the Financial and Banking industry. I have passed the CFA level 2 exam and was wondering if I have to complete the Canadian Securities Course (CSC) as most of the job postings here mention about it. I saw that if someone passes at least the CFA level 1 exam then the requirement of CSC is exempted. Can anyone enlighten me about this? As the CSC exam costs above 1000 CAD, I wanted to be sure if I need it before investing behind it.

Just found out that end of the year I will be promoted from analyst directly to VP and since it’s such a large jump I’ll be the lowest paid VP in asset management at only $135k TC. Should I stay it out and wait for TC to align or take the promotion and jump ship bc I will likely get paid more elsewhere given how recruiters/other companies eat up hiring recently promoted ppl from other firms?

Is IB worth the sacrifice of WLB? Obvious pay is really good but are the prestige and pay worth it if you’re planning on only doing it for a couple years?

Currently working at an IRA with great WLB. Honestly I love my job, the firm, and people I work with.

Also doing MBA part time at a T15 school. Thinking about switching to IB but I’ve done my research and I think I would burn out of IB in two years but I might be ok with that for the opportunities after.

I'm the only employee with a background in finance in a tech startup growing at a 300%+ per year. But it's actually my first finance-related experience (interned and now part-time as I'm in my senior year of undergrad) and don't know really how to have an impact as my knowledge is "limited" and have no technical mentorship.

Any advice/mentorship would be wonderful!
